Things that stress me out!

30 06 2009

Here are a couple things over the past months that really stress me out:

  1. Cutting-  I never thought that this would be a problem, but I have had to deal with this 3 times in the past 6 months.  I need to do some more research on the “why” of cutting.  If you have some info, please pass it on!

  2. Kids that are out of control-  I don’t know what it is about the summer, but the kids always want to be outside.  Hey, school is out and you are outside all day!  See my last post!!!

  3. Pregnancy-  I had to deal with this a couple of weeks ago.  I found out that a girl may be pregnant.  Praise God that she was not.  I am now hearing rumors that she is lying and has done this before.

Sometimes, I think to myself, I did not sign up for this……but wait, I did.  I love the kids that come to youth night during the week, no matter how much they stress me out.  I joke and say that I need a raise, but I would do this for free!!

Youth night disaster!

29 06 2009

I am about 24 hours removed from one of the worst youth nights in a while. I gave a slide-show about taking some of our kids to church camp. Well, that was the best part of the whole night. After we talked about each slide, I gave about a 10 min. testimony on how I am struggling spiritually. After VBS, I was so tired, I quit reading my bible and my prayer time has went south. During this time, some of the younger kids were up walking around. One kid walked right by me during my talk. Another asked if he could get a drink. I was so embarassed.

I know that kids will be kids, but last night was horrible. I need to come up with some ways to seperate the kids when we are in “Big Church”. I also pray that God will deliver me out of this pit that I am in right now. I asked the church to pray for me and it is helping. Please, keep me in your prayers also!!!

Great Day @ Cowen

28 06 2009

I got up bright and early to make the 2.5 hour trip to Webster Co. West Virginia to pick some of my kids up from church camp in Cowen, WV.  This is a special place for a lot of people, and now I see why.  All 4 kids that went up all rededicated their lives to the Lord and want to come back to church and make a difference.  They all made new friends for life.

As for me, I never got the chance to go to church camp.  I mostly went to 4-H camp.  But when you pull into this place, you can really feel the presence of God.  I know that this place will be forever in the hearts of the kids!!IMG_0310

Driving to Camp Cowen Tommorow

26 06 2009

Wow! it seems like only yesterday that I was taking a group of kids to Cowen, WV for church camp.  Well, that was on Sunday, and now I am getting ready for the 2 hour trip to pick them up tomorrow.  I have been praying for them this week that their lives will be changed forever.

I have been pretty bummed latey.  I really don’t know why, but just bummed.  I quit reading my bible. I am now 20 days behind on my “Bible in a Year”.  But seeing these kids get ready for camp and the trip up there, I have became excited all over again.  I can’t wait to give them all a big hug….only if they showered of course!!!!

Wednesday is alwaws the longest day!

17 06 2009

I am always wondering why is it that Wednesday is alays the longest day of the week?  The only thing that I can come up with is that I try to cram everything into the short time that I have in the evening to accomplish everything that I need to do!  Well, tonight is no exception.

I had planned on letting one of our kids in the ministry teach tonight.  He is currently training to be a bull rider and he wanted to show us all of his gear and I had planned on following that up with a short lesson on having no fear when we trust in God.  Well, yesterday, I got a curve ball throwed at me. Turns out that he was unable to be at church tonight.  So, no problem!! I just happen to have a book that every youth pastor/worker needs in their bag.  The book is called “On The Spot, no prep devotions for youth ministry”.  This is the best, I picked this up at the National Youth Ministry Conference earlier this year.  I just found a good lesson and away I went.

Tonight’s lesson was about the people we listen to.  How they impact our lives, good or bad.  The object part war a volunteer was blind folded and told to make it across the room.  The others gave her directions.  Some true and some not true.  We had a great time and gave out some phone numbers to the kids so they can call us when they need someone positive to talk to!

I just hope that I get to plant seeds that will grow and will produce much fruit!!!
