First day @ NYMC was awsome!

Wow!! This conference is awsome. We are having a great time. We met our friends, Ben & Tracy from Louisana. We listen to speakers, music and had group discussion strictly on rural ministry. We are so blessed to know that back home, I have a great support staff who supported us in getting here. Today, we will be going to our deeper learning tracks. I will be going to do “how to flip that youth group” and Chrissy is doing “married to a youth pastor”. So today, we will be going our seperate ways to learn all that we can to help our kids and church back home grow to love God more. We that is all for now. More to follow. Keep us in prayer.

What I hope To Gain @ NYMC!

The other thing that I wanted to say in regards to the NYMC conference, is what I hope to gain from attending. Well, I hope to learn ideas from some of the leading youth pastors in the country and adapt that to my ministry. I also want to talk to other youth workers and find out what they are doing in their ministry. What works for them and what does not.

I hope and pray that my wife will gain an understanding that she is not alone in this thing called youth ministry. That their are women who, like her who married a youth pastor and have small kids and try to balance all with a grain of salt.

So, here we are! About to embark on this wild journey to the NYMC in a couple of hours. Actually, right now, it is 10:52pm and I should be in bed by now. So, from here on out, everything on this website, will be devoted to the NYMC and all that is going on with me and Chrissy. Just pray that we have a safe trip and have a blessed time!

Almost Packed & Ready To Go!

Wow! Time sure has flown by tonight. We are almost packed up. The only thing left to do is check the fliuds in the truck, put the luggage in and it’s HELLO COLUMBUS! I can’t wait to get there and get started. I was talking to my co-workers this morning (you know who you are!!) about what to write about tonight. Something along the lines of how I got to this point and ready to embark on this fantastic journey. Also, to write on what I expect to gain this weekend at NYMC (National Youth Ministry Conference). NYMC in 3 days!

Well, it seems that time is creeping up and it is getting closer and closer to NYMC in Columbus. I am so excited! I talked to my Senior Pastor today and was told that my grant money that I allpied for was in and the check woulld be made available for me tomorrow. God truly has blessed me and my wife, Chrissy. Speaking of Chrissy, she truly needs your prayers. We are going to be leaving our 20 month old daughter behind and this is the first time we will be doing this for more that one day. She is trying not to talk about it and the family is not making it any easier teasing her about this. I have told her that it is good to get out and besides, it will make Kallie a little more independant. So she will not end up 30 years old and still lives at home. I am thankful that the classes that she will be taking are on being married to a youth pastor and balancing marriage and ministry.

I especially cannot wait to meet some people that I have met through this site and through NYMC connect, a facebook-like site to connect people going to the conference. I met a great friend, Ben Green through NYMC connect and can’t wait to finally meet him and his wife.

I ask you to just pray for us and we take this big adventure to Columbus. Thak God will move in a mighty way and that our lives will be changed forever. Not to mention the lives of our kids in the youth ministry @ Leon Baptist Church.

New Series, Thanks To Pastor’s Wife

During the “Dinner & A Movie” last night, my pastor’s wife Brenda, handed me an envelope and told me not to open it till I got home. Now, I have to tell you that I hate to wait to open anything. Needless to say, I waited till I got home. I opened the letter to find a not with a bunch of newspaper clippings. Brenda wanted to encourage me in some way and she came with something pretty amazing. You take newspaper clippings that seem relevant to today’s kids and you tailor your message around it. You could use one clipping or more in your message.
