Nominating Committee Woes!

30 11 2008

I have not written on my site for a while now.  I have taken the time to be with my family.  Especially, my brother Brian, who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio ad I don’t get to see him that often.  So, over these past days, I have loved every minute of it.  Now on to youth ministry!

Why do some people in church do not want to take responsibility?  As many of your churches right now are going through the rigorous process of nominating new leadership positions for the 2009 year.  This year, I was asked to be on the nominating committee and I agreed.  Read the rest of this entry »

Why I Am Thankful

28 11 2008

I took a couple of days off to rest (still tired as I type). I have been hanging out with the family. I was thinking what I was thankful for this Thanksgiving, so here it is.

  1. Healthy Family
  2. Wife
  3. Daughter
  4. Great Job
  5. Church
  6. Church Family
  7. Ministry Staff
  8. That God is in my life and He loves me and uses me to reach the kids that I minister to.

I could probably go on and on for hours.  These were off the top of my head.  Now that this holiday is over, now it is time for the choas of Christmas to begin.

Why we are called to be Youth Pastors!

26 11 2008

Today was a long day to say the least. Tonight, we had our annual Community Thanksgiving Service. I had to get to church early to go and pick the kids.  After church, I was to take them to each others houses to stay the night.  I made the parents come out to talk to me about me taking the kids to someone else’s house, which was a verbal permission slip.  The service went OK.  Now is the fun part/God part of the story.  Read the rest of this entry »

Upcoming New Year Questions

24 11 2008

I know that this is kinda early, but I wanted your input on this.  Today is November 25th, a little over a month away from 2009.  I read a post over the weekend from morethandodgeball.com about giving up TV.  That got me thinking, what could I give up or do more of in the new year.  First, I want to let you know that I am not a big fan of new year’s resolutions in anyway, shape, or form. I want to try to map out the TV for the week.  Don’t get me wrong, I love TV, can’t get enough of it!  I just want to watch to shows that I really want to watch like sports and shows that I can watch with the family.  The main reason for this is that I need to read more.  I have a small bookshelf in my office/computer room that is filled with books that remain to be read.  I definitely need to read my Bible more.  That is why I bought a “One Year Bible”.  I have never made it through the old test. before and I want to do that as a goal of mine.  I really believe that if we read a little more and turn the TV off more, that we would be better of as a person.

So, here is my question to you.  What do you plan to do in the new year to make a difference in your life as well as the life of your family?

23 11 2008
